Nearby malls to face collection of overlap stores at Crocker Park.(News)

Byline: HENRY GOMEZ Lifestyle centers aren't supposed to compete with neighborhood shopping malls because they lease to specialty retailers, unique boutiques and other complementary tenants that can't be found at enclosed malls. So explain Crocker Park, the Westlake lifestyle center expected to open next month with an American Eagle Outfitters, Gap, Victoria's Secret and several other shopping mall staples.

The complex, to be fair, will have its share of unique or high-end retailers, including Coach, H&M, Steve Madden and Urban Outfitters. But the $480 million mixed-use complex from Woodmere's Robert L. Stark Enterprises Inc. figures to siphon significant business from nearby malls such as Great Northern in North Olmsted and Westgate in Fairview Park. The...
