Taft touts Ohio to Calif. biotech group.(News)

Byline: SHANNON PETTYPIECE On a recent stop in California, Gov. Bob Taft pitched his state to California biotech companies as a place to set up shop. While in the Golden State, he met with members of the California Healthcare Institute - a collaboration of more than 200 California companies to advance their state's bioscience industry.
Gov. Taft spoke with a 12-member group of representatives from bioscience giants, such as the biopharmaceutical firm Genentech Inc. of San Francisco, device developer Guidant Corp. of Santa Clara, Calif., and drug developer Allergan Inc. of Irvine, Calif., as well as the venture capital firm MPM Capital LP of San Francisco.
