* LET THE LAVA FLOW: California-based Volcano Therapeutics Inc., which makes ultrasound catheters used to detect artery-clogging plaque will open a four-person office at the Cleveland Clinic. The employees, who have been working with Clinic doctors and researchers, will be involved in research and development.

Executive director of CCF Innovations Christopher Coburn said a key component of Volcano's technology is licensed from the Clinic.
