Byline: HENRY GOMEZ Local java drinkers, take note: A bragging rights battle of who sells the best cup of joe is brewing - and it's not the usual suspects that are percolating with plans to wake, warm and wind you up. In a sign that specialty coffeehouses could be vulnerable for the first time since pop culture anointed them the hip place to loiter in the 1990s, locations as bizarre as the neighborhood gas station are making marketing chips out of coffee beans.

Even McDonald's is rumored to be toying with the idea of offering gourmet coffee. But it's the relentless effort of Dunkin' Donuts to cast itself as a purveyor of gourmet coffee that has Northeast Ohio playing java battleground.
