Lorain County change in transit provider to cost 81 jobs.(Brief Article)

Byline: DAVID BENNETT First Transit Inc., a Cincinnati transportation company, will cut 81 jobs in Elyria on April 1 after Lorain County officials opted to go with another transit service provider. Company spokeswoman Venyke Payton said First Transit was notified March 10 that the county was entering into a new service contract with MV Transportation Inc.
of Fairfield, Calif., to operate the Lorain County Transit system. First Transit has provided transit service in Lorain County since 1998. Ms. Payton said there are no plans for the 81 drivers, maintenance technicians and administrative workers to transfer to other First Transit service areas.
