Akron Children's ad campaign offers look at true patient tales.

Byline: SHANNON MORTLAND As 2-year-old Cheyenne Hickman runs through the hallway at Akron Children's Hospital, a pink bow bouncing on top of her shoulder-length, blond hair, doctors are plotting her open-heart surgery. Cheyenne pays no mind to the camera that is following her through the hospital, but it captures all her movements, as well as those of her medical caregivers.
Cheyenne and her doctors are part of a new advertising campaign by Akron Children's. Launched Feb. 13, the new campaign is unlike the hospital's previous ads, which featured children talking about random subjects and promoted "high-tech facts'' about the hospital, said Carol Wallace, director of public relations at Akron Children's.
