Weaving his way to the web; Clevelander Jim Brickman's music marketing biz steps up interactive efforts by buying online firm ViaWerk.(News)

Byline: JOHN BOOTH Cleveland musician Jim Brickman launched his first music marketing effort around 1980 with an answering machine in his Case Western Reserve University dorm room, from which he sold jingles to local advertising agencies. A couple decades later, his marketing and fulfillment company, BrickhouseDirect, employs eight people at its Woodmere headquarters, three at its tour promotions center in Omaha, Neb., and now includes an interactive arm with the acquisition of local online music marketing firm ViaWerk.
