Commercial outlook far rosier than residential; Positive forecast of 8% increase comes on heels of sagging performance in recent past.(Real Estate)

Byline: STAN BULLARD Contractors in one segment of Northeast Ohio's building business are not belting out the blues this year like some home contractors are doing. Commercial construction companies are seeing an uptick in business and good prospects for the future. However, the improvement has been a long time coming.

Nonresidential builders have been singing sad songs since 2001, while residential builders were banging out sweet results until the go-go housing market slowed this year. Mark Hill, a vice president at Gilbane Building Co.'s Cleveland office and a 26-year veteran of the region's nonresidential market, said, "We're faring well in terms of construction jobs in Cleveland. Compared to the past, we're going into the top of a very good cycle.''...
