Clothes make the man, and a vault makes a bank * Technically speaking, Ohio Commerce Bank in Beachwood opened its doors last Nov. 2. However, it could be argued the bank didn't become official until last Tuesday, March 20, when its permanent vault arrived. The "3,500-pound animal,'' as director Louis Amoroso describes it, is not a walk-in vault, but rather is 37 inches wide by 30 inches deep.

It took 90 minutes to install and steel plates were placed over the floor of the bank to guard against damage to the floor. Previously, the bank had been using a loaner vault until the real deal arrived, Mr. Amoroso said.
