Suppliers create tech showcases to pitch products.(Special Section: Technology)

When Ford Motor Co. engineers visit Delphi Automotive Systems' new headquarters, they will see an auto-show-style display featuring Ford vehicles and their potential for carrying Delphi parts. Honda people will see Honda. BMW will see BMW. None of the automakers will see each other, and almost nobody from the adjacent Delphi office tower will even know, let alone see, who is visiting the 22,000-square-foot Customer Center in Troy.

So much for the image of auto suppliers as traveling salesmen. While Delphi's center may be the grandest example yet, suppliers big and small are creating technology showcases to strut their stuff.
