Chrysler delays QS-9000. (quality standard for suppliers)

Suppliers have rest of year to meet new quality standard Chrysler Corp. has pushed back until the end of the year the deadline it set for suppliers to meet a new quality standard. The company had said all suppliers that didn't earn QS-9000 quality status by July 31 would risk losing out on future business.

But with the passing of that date, Chrysler says it will give a reprieve to suppliers that are close to being certified. Suppliers that don't appear to be making any QS-9000 progress were warned again that they could lose Chrysler's business. There's at least one penalty, though, for production suppliers that missed the July 31 date.
