Borders Group Inc. (NYSE: BGP) reported net income of $86.7 million or $1.06 a share on revenue of $942.9 million for its fourth quarter that ended, Jan. 25, compared with $78.9 million or 96 cents on revenue of $858.8 million for the same period in 1998. For fiscal 1998, net income was $92.1 million or $1.12 a share on revenue of $2.6 billion, compared with $80.2 million or 98 cents on revenue of $2.3 billion for 1997.
The Ann Arbor-based multimedia retailer attributed its improvement to sales at stores open more than a year, which improved by 3.5 percent from last year.
