Engineering might lack the bone-snapping thrills of football and the fast-paced action of basketball. But as with sports, the challenges are exciting. And team effort, tenacity and discipline can bring success and satisfaction. Supporters say that is the message of a program for teen-agers that promotes competition based on science rather than sinew.
