PVS CHEMICALS PLANS 3 NEW PLANTS.

PVS Chemicals Inc. soon may expand its global presence by opening three plants, adding between $9 million and $15 million in annual revenue. The company wants to build plants in Ghent, Belgium; Chicago; and Kelheim, Germany, said CEO James Nicholson. The plants in Belgium and Chicago would manufacture chemicals for use in computer chips; the German plant would make chemicals used to develop film.
The company is seeking suitable locations for the plants. Nicholson plans to travel to Germany next month to look at prospective sites. The plants need to be close to the market they serve because the chemicals cannot be transported long distances, he said. Also, Chicago has particularly low freight costs, Nicholson said.
