UAW gets OK to strike at Ford if it's necessary United Auto Workers members at Ford Motor Co. voted to authorize the union to call a strike against Ford ``if deemed necessary.'' The UAW said 96.4 percent of the voters approved the action. The UAW represents about 101,000 production and skilled- trades workers at Ford operations across the United States.
BARDEN WILL APPEAL CASINO SUIT REJECTION Detroit businessman Don Barden plans to appeal to the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati to reinstate his lawsuit against the city of Detroit and Mayor Dennis Archer challenging the selection of casino developers, said Robert Carson, Barden's attorney.
