Delphi goes after diesel market with purchase Delphi Automotive Systems Inc. (NYSE: DPH) said it will buy Lucas Diesel Systems from TRW Inc. to grab a share of Europe's fast-growing market for diesel engines, Bloomberg News reported. The Troy-based parts maker will acquire the unit for $871 million.

It will be renamed Delphi Diesel Systems. The unit had sales of $1.1 billion last year. The purchase helps Delphi reduce its reliance on former parent General Motors Corp., which accounted for three-quarters of its $28.5 billion in revenue last year. Delphi separated from GM in February.
