Southeast Michigan will be the headquarters site for the giant Catholic hospital merger between Farmington Hills-based Mercy Health Services Inc. and Holy Cross Health System Inc. of South Bend, Ind. The Detroit area edged suburban Chicago for the home of the joint company, said Stephen Shivinsky, Mercy Health associate vice president of corporate communications.
The exact site of the headquarters has not been determined. But it will house something less than the 160 employees that currently make up the corporate staff for Mercy Health, Shivinsky said. Some management from South Bend is expected to transfer to Detroit, although both systems will keep major administrative offices in their current locations, he said.
