Ballmer a loyal guy, Country Day friends say Microsoft Corp.'s new CEO, Steve Ballmer, may be one of the world's wealthiest individuals, but folks back at his high school alma mater, Detroit Country Day, say he still has time to be true to his school. Although the 1973 alum rarely visits the school, he is a generous donor and sits on the board of trustees.

He stays in weekly contact with Gerald Hansen, his former math teacher and Detroit Country Day's current headmaster. ``He's very active on the board in the sense that he is current with all the minutes and actively communicates via e-mail with the headmaster and other members of the board on a regular basis,'' said Scott Bertschy, the school's director of development.
