Turnaround boss to leave Trinity Health.(Thomas Summerill resigns as CEO of Trinity Health Plans)(Brief Article)

Thomas Summerill, who engineered a financial and operational turnaround of Trinity Health Plans in Farmington Hills, has resigned as the health plan's president and CEO. Summerill, 40, resigned effective Sept. 1 to pursue an interest in academics, said Stephen Shivinsky, vice president of corporate communications and public relations for Trinity Health, the Novi-based parent company of Trinity Health Plans, formerly Mercy Health Plans.

Trinity Health Plans, which operates Care Choices HMO, is the Detroit area's fifth-largest health plan. Care Choices posted revenue in 1999 of $270.3 million.
