In casino war, Windsor wins the quarter.

After facing six months of head-on competition from Detroit's two casinos, Casino Windsor lost some ground but still held an edge in the Detroit-Windsor gambling market. The casino's revenue for the quarter ending June 30 was down 6.6 percent, despite drawing 600 more visitors a day. Average daily revenue of $1.3 million placed Casino Windsor slightly ahead of MGM Grand Detroit and MotorCity Casino.
Now the Canadian casino is bracing for another shift with the Nov. 10 scheduled opening of Greektown Casino. ``We're going to see a lot more volatility in the market,'' said Jim Mundy, corporate communications director for Windsor Casino Ltd., a private company that manages the government-owned casino. ``They certainly have the advantage of being in a...
