PSC approves code of conduct for electricity suppliers.(Brief Article)

LANSING - Companies that supply electricity face new state rules on the interaction between their regulated and unregulated businesses. The Michigan Public Service Commission has adopted a code of conduct designed to promote fair competition, as Michigan begins to allow customers to choose electricity suppliers.

The code is more comprehensive than existing codes. It is designed to prevent cross-subsidization, information-sharing and preferential treatment between a utility's regulated and unregulated services. Detroit Edison Co. and CMS Energy Corp. executives said they're still reviewing the Dec. 4 order.
