Steelmakers, unions push protection against imports.(political activity)(Brief Article)

Local union and management officials in the steel industry are working to push for federal legislation that would limit the amount of steel imported into the United States and give American steel companies more financial backing. Both sides say the legislation, which would set import levels back to where they were in 1994 and allow companies to borrow up to $10 billion, could help save 7,500 jobs at local steel plants.
