Steelcase Inc. is seeking Detroit area clients for Workstage L.L.C., a hybrid office builder and furniture supplier. Grand Rapids-based Steelcase last year partnered with New Jersey-based developer Gale & Wentworth L.L.C. to create Workstage, which constructs buildings around Steelcase's tech-friendly office furniture.
Workstage coordinates furniture and construction around high-speed Internet, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and other electrical hookups, said Erin Bell, Workstage's marketing communications manager. Wiring runs under raised flooring and directly to the furniture, rather than in the walls or ceilings, so businesses can reconfigure departments quickly.
