ABN Amro move may hinge on tax breaks; Company considers moving group to Fla.(ABN Amro Mortgage Group needs new, larger quarters)(Brief Article)

Ann Arbor-based ABN Amro Mortgage Group says it will expand, but will the company stay in the area or move its headquarters and nearly 1,000 jobs to south Florida? ABN Amro Mortgage Group and its InterFirst Wholesale Mortgage Lending division occupy about 120,000 square feet in the 777 Eisenhower Building and project needing about 200,000 square feet, said William Newman, executive vice president of ABN Amro Mortgage Group.
The mortgage unit of Amsterdam, Netherlands-based ABN Amro Holding N.V. is working on an incentive package with the Michigan Economic Development Corp. Newman, who is also president of InterFirst, said he hopes the two can make a deal. The company's preference - and the most likely outcome - is keeping the headquarters in the Ann Arbor...
