As Engler era ends, politicos look to future MACKINAC ISLAND - With Gov. John Engler's administration entering its final six months, thoughts are turning to life after December. The husband-and-wife team of Doug and Sharon Rothwell are keeping an eye out for new jobs. She is Engler's chief of staff, he is president and CEO of the Michigan Economic Development Corp.
Doug Rothwell said he doesn't know where he'll land next. ``I'll go to the highest bidder,'' he said at the Detroit Regional Chamber's Leadership Policy Conference. Mackinac was also the setting of a going-away party for Director James Haveman of the Michigan Department of Community Health.
