Delphi Corp. opens door to new products; Acquisitions eyed as route to higher profit margins.(Brief Article)(Company Profile)

Delphi Corp. is starting to leverage its technology patents and electronics and engineering expertise into new markets such as medical supplies, telecommunications and consumer electronics. Automotive business was and always will be what drives Delphi's revenue and profits. But slowly, the company wants to increase nonautomotive sales and is looking for acquisitions that can get it into new industries faster.

``We are auto, but at the same time, there's a stable of technology we have that we've never really looked at before,'' said Atul Pasricha, vice president of mergers, acquisitions and new markets for Troy-based Delphi (NYSE: DPH).
