Byline: Laura Bailey President Wayne State University Wayne State University President Irvin Reid has had a busy year, overseeing $108 million in construction projects and luring two major investments that are expected to mean millions of dollars for WSU, Detroit and the state. Opened this year were the $19 million, six-story North Residence Hall; an $18 million, four-story welcome center; a $6 million, two-story bookstore operated by Barnes & Noble; and the $64 million Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences, a six-story building in The Detroit Medical Center.

Reid was honored in November as one of four winners of the Real Estate Excellence Award, given by the University of Michigan-Urban Land Institute Real Estate Forum....
