Wayne County approves joint health authority The Wayne County Commission approved an agreement to form a Detroit Wayne County Health Authority that would provide a health care safety net for Detroit's uninsured and underinsured. The commission voted 11-3 to approve the agreement, with commissioners Susan Hubbard, Kwame Kenyatta and Jewel Ware voting against it.
The intergovernmental agreement to form the authority was signed in December by Gov. Jennifer Granholm, Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano, Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, and Michigan Department of Community Health Director Janet Olszewski.
