Byline: Terry Kosdrosky Johnson Controls Automotive Group increased its revenue last year the old-fashioned way - by winning new business. The Plymouth-based division manufactures automotive interior systems and batteries. Its fiscal year ended Sept. 30. Automotive interior sales were up 12 percent in North America and 32 percent in Europe.

JCI's growth exceeded industry production averages. That means its systems were on fast-selling cars and trucks. The battery business also increased, both because of new business and acquisitions. Battery sales were up 14 percent in North America both due to increased shipments and pass-through costs from high lead prices.
