WSU plans $86M in projects; $500M campaign includes 3 new buildings.(Wayne State University)

Byline: Robert Ankeny Wayne State University's $500 million capital campaign launched last week is expected to raise funds to be split three ways, including for major bricks-and-mortar projects at three colleges. "Wayne State's academic reputation is world-class, but many of our buildings do not reflect the same quality,'' said Susan Burns, vice president for development and alumni affairs, and president of the WSU Foundation.
A 34,000-square-foot, two-story building is proposed for the School of Medicine, connecting Scott Hall and the Shiffman Medical Library. Estimated cost is $30 million. Planning for this project is further along than some others, Burns said, thanks to the largest gift ever made to the university: $15 million from California...
