Kilpatrick lures Eminem to fireworks event Less than a month after his threat to cancel the Detroit/Windsor Freedom Festival Fireworks, Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has landed international hip-hop star Marshall Mathers - aka Eminem - to perform at the event Wednesday. Although Kilpatrick later said the show would go on, reports of a possible cancellation hurt ticket sales for the Rockin' the Rooftop Fireworks Party, a fundraiser for America's Thanksgiving Day Parade as well as the 47th Annual Target Fireworks.

Both are organized by The Parade Co. Eminem, who has not performed live in Detroit since last summer's two-night stand at Ford Field, has agreed to perform one song to open the event, Kilpatrick said in a statement. Eminem also is scheduled to perform...
