Muslim media company plans IPO, hopes for $10M A small Muslim media company in Farmington hopes to expand into radio and TV by raising $10 million in an initial public offering, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The Muslim Media Network Inc., which incorporated in Michigan in February, publishes a weekly newspaper, The Muslim Observer, and operates a Web site, www.muslimobserver.com.
The paper claims a circulation of 20,000 and readers in all 50 states; the SEC filing states it has 987 paid subscribers. It distributes free copies at mosques and cultural centers. A.S. Nakadar, the network's CEO and president and the paper's publisher, hopes it will become the first publicly traded Muslim media company in the country....
