Herman Gray has been named president of Children's Hospital of Michigan. Gray, a pediatrician, is the first African-American in that role. His history with Children's Hospital dates to the late 1970s, when he was chief pediatric resident. He also has been vice president of graduate medical education, pediatric residency program director, chief of staff and COO.
He also has been associate dean for graduate medical education at the Wayne State University School of Medicine. He remains a clinical associate professor in pediatrics. Gray earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan and holds a physician executive MBA from the University of Tennessee. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
