Byline: Sherri Begin Ann Arbor-based Arbor Hospice & Home Care didn't get the $125,000 gift this year from the Ford Motor Co. Fund it had gotten in recent years. But it did get something else. "Ford donated people to help us, and that has been most valuable,'' CEO Cheryl Fairbrother said.

Ford information-technology employees last summer helped Arbor with landscaping and gardening. This year is the first that Ford Motor Co. Fund and DaimlerChrysler Corp. Fund haven't given Arbor at least $25,000, she said. The General Motors Foundation was a major donor to Arbor until 2003.
