Orchestra Place anchors Midtown City boosters long have hoped to fill in the "gaps" along Woodward Avenue, from Jefferson Avenue downtown to Grand Boulevard in New Center. Orchestra Place is a key anchor in Midtown, about halfway between the two districts. Its centerpiece is the acoustically renowned Orchestra Hall, built in 1919, restored in the 1980s and home to the internationally acclaimed Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
