Some suppliers expanding biz; New plants, spending mean global industry is strong.(News)

Byline: Brent Snavely Buried amid the carnage that has clouded the local auto supplier industry over the past year are a number of local suppliers who are planning to invest capital this year on new or expanded plants. Last week a half-dozen local suppliers announced or provided updates to plans to spend millions in capital expenditures this year.

Southgate specialty-car supplier ASC Inc., for example, is looking to spend between $20 million and $50 million for a production plant and is considering sites in Michigan, several other states and Mexico.
