Detroit Newspapers fires 25.(News)(Brief Article)

Byline: Andrew Dietderich At least 25 employees were fired last week from the Detroit Newspapers Partnership L.P., a spokesperson for the company said. Meghan O'Meara, director of strategic marketing and communications for the DNP confirmed Friday that 25 people were involuntarily laid off.

Others took early retirement, she said, but she did not want to disclose those numbers. The Detroit Newspapers Partnership manages the business operations of The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press. O'Meara said the layoffs were the result of identifying and reducing expenses.
