Byline: Jennette Smith Wayne Doran is best known as the retired chairman of Ford Motor Land Development Co., but a busy agenda of civic and nonprofit projects continues to put his real estate prowess to work. Doran, under Henry Ford II, was the point man on Dearborn's 2,400-acre Fairlane master-planned area and the development of Detroit's Renaissance Center, completed in 1977.

His track record in real estate and community projects earned him this year's lifetime achievement award from the Detroit chapter of the Urban Land Institute.
