Visteon ordered to pay Am. Axle $14.9M in contract dispute An arbitration panel ruled that Van Buren Township-based Visteon Corp. (NYSE: VC) must pay American Axle & Manufacturing Inc. (NYSE: AXL) nearly $14.9 million for violating an agreement to buy forgings when it terminated the agreement in December 2001.

An arbitration panel issued the opinion on Aug. 28; minor changes to the award were approved in a judgment by Wayne County Circuit Judge John Gillis on Sept. 22. Patrick Lancaster, vice president, chief administrative officer and secretary for American Axle, said Visteon paid American Axle during the first week of October. "Our view is that the findings in the arbitration opinion about Visteon's misconduct speak for themselves,'' Lancaster said....
