Consortium to launch $1m startup fund The fledgling Michigan Homeland Security Consortium, a Lansing-based trade organization launched in June to promote small and startup companies, said Wednesday it will launch a $1 million fund in January that will give grants or loans of up to $50,000 for startups.
Membership in the consortium, which costs $500, is not required. "This is a fund targeted at the basement startup,'' said consortium Chairman Keith Brophy, who is also president of business development for Troy-based NuSoft Solutions Inc. "We want it to be virtually painless for the entrepreneur to engage in the fund.''
