Nonprofits to lose money, help.(Pfizer Inc. closing its Ann Arbor facility)

Byline: Sherri Begin Pfizer Inc.'s departure from Ann Arbor will equate to a loss of more than $3 million each year for nonprofits. Nonprofits will feel the effects as corporate giving/sponsorships, employee giving/volunteering and taxes from the idled facility decline. "We are painfully aware of the impact of the decisions that were announced (last) week,'' said Rick Chambers, director of corporate media relations for Pfizer's Midwest region.

"We're not going to make any major decisions ... until we have the conversations and determine what their needs are to allow us to lessen the impact.''
