Blank checks; With acquisitions, Noble could exceed $1 billion in revenue this year.(Company overview)

Byline: Brent Snavely During the past 10 years Robert Skandalaris transformed Noble International Ltd. from an acquirer of various automotive suppliers into a company that is on the verge of becoming the largest global supplier of laser-welded blanks. Warren-based Noble (Nasdaq: NOBL) uses lasers to weld pieces of flat-rolled steel into a door panel or other automotive body parts before shipping them to stamping plants.

Skandalaris, Noble's chairman and founder, said the laser-welded blank division accounted for just $10 million of the company's annual sales back in 1997.
