Covansys sale: From first contact to $1.3B deal - in three weeks.(News)(Computer Sciences Corp.)

Byline: Tom Henderson The agreement to sell Farmington Hills-based Covansys Corp. to El Segundo, Calif.-based Computer Sciences Corp. came after a whirlwind courtship, said Raj Vattikuti, Covansys' president, founder and CEO. Vattikuti said Covansys will continue to operate as a division of Computer Sciences and maintain its Farmington Hills headquarters.
He will continue to run it, with a title yet to be determined. He said local employment will be only minimally affected. The global IT services company has 341 employees in Michigan, including 160 in its headquarters. "This all happened in three weeks,'' he said. "We were not looking to sell at all. They approached us. They'd been following us the last few years and thought it would be a good model.''...
