Byline: Jennette Smith The University Research Corridor released an analysis of the state's three research universities' economic contributions to the state on Thursday. The University of Michigan, Michigan State University and Wayne State University, which are in a six-month-old alliance to promote a Michigan research triangle, spend a combined $6.5 billion a year on operations or 2 percent of the state's economic activity.
The figures were gathered by Anderson Economic Group and announced at the Mackinac Policy Conference. The Anderson findings reported that the URC spends more than $1.3 billion a year on research and development, outranks Pennsylvania and North Carolina peers in the number of patents granted and licensing revenue and is helping to...
