Elder Auto bucks trend with four new dealerships.(News)

Byline: Chad Halcom Troy-based Elder Automotive Group has opened three dealerships in Southeast Michigan and one in Florida since the beginning of the year, mostly in a push to give Elder's car brands more visibility and independence. But in an industry that views the local market as oversaturated already with outlets for Big Three-owned brands, company founder and CEO Irma Elder knows some of her colleagues will watch her closely.
"We are adding and growing. It is very risky, right now, but this is when the opportunity was, and this is when we were ready,'' Elder said.
