National City to add 6-8 branches as part of plan to boost market share.(News)

Byline: Tom Henderson National City Bank has completed a market study of Southeast Michigan and is about to embark on an expansion plan that hopes to add six to eight new branches in the next two years, according to David Boyle, who became president of the Troy-based Michigan operations in January.
He said each branch would cost about $2 million and would require about eight full-time employees to run. Boyle said he hopes to take the bank from No. 5 in deposit share in both the state and the region to No. 3 in coming years. He said another market study of the entire state will begin next spring, which will help determine broader expansion plans.
