Kaiser rebuts California critique of HMO's service. (Kaiser Permanente-Northern California's response to the Dept. of Corporations)

OAKLAND, Calif. - A failure by Kaiser Permanente-Northern California to adequately correct service deficiencies could lead to disciplinary action against the health maintenance organization, warns the state Department of Corporations. But, Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente says it is addressing the issues raised in the department's medical survey, which focus on a variety of performance factors - including complaint-handling procedures, payment for emergency care and arrangements for follow-up physician appointments - rather than quality of care issues.
