Ameritech: OSS can process 100,000 resale orders a month. (operations support systems)

Ameritech Corp.'s operations support systems (OSS) are capable of handling 100,000 resale orders per month from competitive local exchange careers and will be able to handle 250,000 orders per month by the second quarter, company officials said last week. The OSS currently can handle 30,000 orders for unbundled network elements monthly, Ameritech said.
Under FCC rules, Bell companies must provide new local competitors electronic access to their operations support systems before being allowed into in-region inter-LATA (local access and transport area) markets.
