PBM deal might cut prices. (proposed merger of Express Scripts Inc. and ValueRx)

ST. LOUIS - Lower prescription drug prices for employers could result from the planned merger of Express Scripts Inc. and ValueRx, company executives and consultants say. ValueRx's customer base, dominated by large employer groups and insurers, also will complement Express Scripts' base of managed care companies and third-party administrators, industry watchers say.

Employers also might see improvements in clinical studies and better disease management programs, sources say.
