Survey highlights need for more IT security. (information technology; Global Information Security Survey)

While Australian risk managers recognize the importance of information security, many have serious gaps in their own company's security, an international survey shows. The Global Information Security Survey, taken by the New-York based accounting firm of Ernst & Young, shows management is struggling to implement appropriate risk management strategies for information technology security, said Stephen Breihl, Ernst & Young's Australian director-information systems assurance and advisory services.
Brian Crews, the national president of the Assn. of Risk & Insurance Managers of Australasia, said information technology security failures are a major threat to Australian businesses. But, he said, not enough managers are taking steps to avoid the worst-case scenario....
